Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 22 July 2026 to 5 August 2026. The service is a residential service providing support to younger adults living with mental health conditions. At the time of the assessment, 10 people were living at the service; however, only three people were receiving personal care and therefore fell within the scope of this assessment. This assessment was undertaken due to the length of time since all aspects of the service had been assessed and to review the quality and safety of the service. We also followed up the breach of Regulation relating to medicines management identified at the previous inspection. During this assessment, we found the provider had taken action to address the concerns identified. Medicines systems and processes were reviewed and demonstrated appropriate management, oversight and monitoring. Staff responsible for medicines had received training and competency assessments and audits were completed to support safe medicines management. As a result, the provider was no longer in breach of Regulations.

People living at Chesham House received safe, person-centred care from staff who knew them well. People spoke positively about their experiences of living at the service and described staff as kind, supportive and helpful. People were supported to maintain relationships, make choices about their daily lives and remain as independent as possible.

People's needs were assessed and reviewed, and staff used this information to provide care and support that reflected their individual preferences, health needs and goals. People were supported to access healthcare services, maintain their physical and mental wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes, including improved management of long-term health conditions and healthier lifestyles. Staff worked collaboratively with healthcare professionals and other agencies to support people's wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes.

Leaders promoted a positive and supportive culture. Staff consistently described managers as approachable, supportive and available for advice and guidance. Governance and quality assurance systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service. Where issues were identified, leaders demonstrated a willingness to learn and improve. During the assessment process, the provider engaged openly with feedback and provided additional evidence to demonstrate improvement and address outstanding concerns.

Overall, people experienced care and support that was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
