Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 15 to 24 April 2026. The service is a care at home service providing support to people with dementia, people with sensory impairment, people with a learning disability or autistic spectrum disorder.

The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe from the risk of abuse. Staff understood and managed risks. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving services. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.

People were involved in decisions about their care. Staff provided information people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider took it seriously and acted on it. The service was easy to access and worked to eliminate discrimination. People received fair and equal care and treatment. People were involved in planning their future care and understood options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. People with protected characteristics felt supported. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. Managers worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to new ideas. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People's experience of this service

Everyone we spoke with had something positive to say about staff and the service they received. People also spoke highly about the leadership team and said managers were good at communicating and keeping in touch with any changes or important information. Regarding a manager 1 relative said, “[Name] is superb, and the service is amazing.” People said they saw the same staff, and they were knowledgeable and well trained. We found staff usually arrived on time and completed tasks according to care plans.

Relatives said staff worked hard to understand their loved one’s needs and likes and dislikes. A relative said, “Staff know my [relative] implicitly, I have a lot of confidence in them.” Relatives commented having staff that spoke the same language made things easier for them during difficult and emotional times, and said staff respected their privacy. A relative said, “From day 1 we knew we had chosen the right company.”
