During a routine inspection

Our inspection took place over two days. We spent one day in the office reviewing records and talking with staff. The other day we visited people in their own homes and spoke with a relative.

We observed people being treated in a caring and attentive manner.

Staff were aware of their responsibilities to safeguard people from abuse.

One person told us “I receive support from staff who know me very well. They provide care and support which is consistent and what I need and expect. All of the staff I have met have been professional and compassionate.” Another person told us “the care and support I receive is second to none. They have years of experience and receive regular training.”

Everyone we spoke with confirmed they were very happy with the service At Your Home provided. A clear auditing system was in place to monitor the on going quality of the service provided.

During a routine inspection

At Your Home is a small domiciliary care agency, that was first registered in August 2011. Whilst the agency is currently small the management and operating systems in place will enable the agency to develop into a significantly larger business.

For the purposes of this review we spent time with the manager and office staff, we visited some people using the service in their own homes, spoke to other people or relatives by telephone, and spoke with carers who work for the agency.

We visited three people who were using the service, in their own homes and contacted three relatives of people who were using the service, by telephone. We asked them how involved they had been in making decisions about how their care was delivered. They told us that they had been visited by the manager and had discussed the support they needed and how this was to be delivered. 'I was very impressed when I met the manager, her professionalism and helpfulness was encouraging', 'the pattern of support I receive is exactly how I want it' and 'the manager visited and found out what was needed by asking lots of questions and then brought along the carers to meet me'.

We found that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

We found that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place, and that staff received appropriate professional development.
