At Your Home is a small domiciliary care agency, that was first registered in August 2011. Whilst the agency is currently small the management and operating systems in place will enable the agency to develop into a significantly larger business. For the purposes of this review we spent time with the manager and office staff, we visited some people using the service in their own homes, spoke to other people or relatives by telephone, and spoke with carers who work for the agency.
We visited three people who were using the service, in their own homes and contacted three relatives of people who were using the service, by telephone. We asked them how involved they had been in making decisions about how their care was delivered. They told us that they had been visited by the manager and had discussed the support they needed and how this was to be delivered. 'I was very impressed when I met the manager, her professionalism and helpfulness was encouraging', 'the pattern of support I receive is exactly how I want it' and 'the manager visited and found out what was needed by asking lots of questions and then brought along the carers to meet me'.
We found that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan.
People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.
We found that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place, and that staff received appropriate professional development.
