Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 26 November 2025.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
Not all risks associated with the undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated.
Recruitment procedures did not reflect current legislation, and the practice did not have an effective system to monitor staff training to ensure action could be taken quickly if training requirements were not being met.
Infection prevention and control procedures were not fully in-line with published guidance.
Some governance processes were ineffective, and we found a lack of a culture of continuous improvement.
However, staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
U Smile Dental Practice is in Luton and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and off-street parking was available near the practice.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 5 staff, of which there were the principal dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist, and an administrator. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including the dentist, and the 2 dental nurses.
The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good governance.
Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
