During a routine inspection

Domiciliary Care (East) provided support services to children and adults living in the community. This report followed an inspection of the service carried out on 9 May 2012 and 10 May 2012. The inspection focused primarily on the service provided to adults with a learning disability who were living in supported living schemes. We visited two supported living schemes in Scarborough and in Market Weighton and spoke to people who use the service. We looked at surveys people had completed, and had telephone contact with three people whose relatives use the service. People told us that they 'couldn't be more satisfied' with the service they received.

People said they liked the members of staff who supported them. They told us they were involved in choosing who supported them and what activities they did. One person said 'I sit and talk to people when they come for interview' and that support staff helped them.

Some people who use the service had complex care needs and we were not able to speak to them in detail about their care. However we spoke to support staff and we observed the interactions between members of staff and people being supported. In this way we gathered evidence of people's experiences by observing the care they received to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. We saw that staff understood what people needed and offered support and assurances in a timely way.
