Our view of the service

Date of assessment 20 May to 27 May 2025.

Thurlaston Meadows Care Home Ltd is a care home providing personal care and accommodation to older people who may live with physical disabilities, dementia or sensory impairment. Care and accommodation is provided to people on both a short and long term basis. At the time of the inspection there were 31 people living at the home. The service had made improvements in the way people’s risks and medicines were managed and are no longer in breach of regulations. Staff were recruited safely and knew people and their safety needs well. People’s risks were now identified and actions taken to mitigate their risks. People’s care needs were regularly reviewed. Staff understood what was expected of them and were now supported to provide good care. Staff tailored the care they provided to people, so it reflected what mattered to them and worked across teams to help people to achieve good outcomes. Staff consulted other and supported people in their best interests, where people wanted support to make key decisions about their care. The service had made improvements in the way the home was managed and are no longer in breach of regulations. However, some further development is required of governance systems to ensure records of the care provided to people are consistently made, and to drive further improvement at the home.

People, relatives and staff were confident any concerns and their feedback or suggestions for developing care further would be acted on. People were offered care which reflected their lifestyles and preferences.

 

 

People's experience of this service

People told us Thurlaston Meadows Care Home Ltd was a good place to live and the home was now well managed. People had built caring relationships with the staff supporting them and relatives were confident in the care provided to their family members. One relative said, “I come away from the place knowing she is ok and safe and the staff love her, I do get that sense she is in the best place.” People were encouraged to maintain their independence to be involved in deciding what care they wanted. People enjoyed a range of interesting things to do which reflected their preferences and wishes. Relatives were positive about the care provided and told us they could rely on staff to obtain help from other health and social care professionals when their family members wanted this. People told us they experienced a good quality of life. Relatives were complimentary about the sensitive and supportive care their family members received at the end of their lives.
