Our view of the service
MiHomecare is a domiciliary care service which provides personal care to people living in their own homes. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and/or support with eating and drinking. At the time of this assessment the service was supporting 215 people with personal care.
The assessment took place on 27 May 2026 to23 June 2026.
Systems and process for safeguarding were operated effectively. There was a clear learning culture within the service, based on openness, honesty and transparency. People were involved in managing risk with new and emerging risks responded to timely. Systems and processes for managing accidents, incidents and untoward events were managed effectively.
Systems and process to ensure safe management of medicines were in place. Staff were trained and were assessed as competent to administer medicines safely.
There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Before people started using the service their needs were assessed. Staff worked together both internally and with external agencies. This was confirmed by the positive feedback from people and healthcare professionals.
Consent to provide care was obtained by staff. Where appropriate, people were supported to access GP and primary care services.
Systems and processes for audit, quality assurance and questioning of practice, such as spot checks, were operated effectively. Feedback from people was obtained by the service and valued by the registered manager.
The provider created a highly open and supportive culture where staff felt safe to raise concerns. Staff described the registered manager as approachable, visible and genuinely committed to their wellbeing, fostering a culture where concerns were welcomed and continuous improvement was encouraged.
Staff and leaders knew people well and responded quickly when health needs changed, seeking advice from healthcare professionals and helping to prevent avoidable hospital admissions. Professionals spoke highly of the provider, describing the team as communicative, thorough and proactive, particularly when participating in work at short notice. All the feedback we received from professionals was positive. One healthcare professional told us, “The provider demonstrates a strong commitment to innovation and continuousimprovement”
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences.
Staff understood people’s communication needs and communicated effectively with people using appropriate methods. The culture of the service was positive, and person centred. Staff enjoyed their job and reported there was good team morale
People's experience of this service
People gave consistently positive feedback about the provider, leaders and staff, describing them as kind, supportive and highly professional. Relatives told us they felt fully involved and were treated as valued partners. The care was frequently described as “Over and above,” and spoke about the meaningful difference staff had made to people’s wellbeing and daily lives.
People told us they had positive experiences from the outset. One told us, “I am very happy with the company it is well run, if I had any concerns I would speak to the manager and I am confident they would listen, I would recommend the company and would rate them 10/10. “
Staff were punctual and reliable, arriving at the agreed times and providing consistent, dependable support. Dedicated staff teams knew people well. This continuity was especially important for people living with dementia, helping reduce anxiety and enabling staff to notice any changes and respond with reassurance or appropriate support.
People’s views were regularly sought, and care plans were updated based on their needs and preferences. People told us any changes were responded to promptly. They were frequently asked for feedback and felt confident their views helped shape the service. Several said, “I would definitely recommend them.” People also spoke fondly of the staff providing care, describing them as personable, reliable and familiar faces they trusted.
Everyone we spoke with said they were fully involved in decisions about their care. People confirmed that staff always sought permission before providing support and ensured they understood what was happening and why.
Leadership was highly praised. People and relatives described the service as well run, with open, inclusive and transparent communication.
