Governance, management and sustainability

Regulations met

At the inspection on 7 September 2026, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

A new compressor (a machine designed to provide compressed air to power dental instruments) had been fitted. We saw the associated paperwork including a pressure vessel certificate.

The practice managed fire safety well. We saw that actions which arose from a risk assessment had been completed or mitigated. Regular testing of fire alarms and torches (used in place of emergency lighting) was being carried out and documented. Staff had completed fire awareness training.

Ampoules of adrenaline (a medicine used to treat serious anaphylaxis) along with needles and syringes, were now present in the medical emergency kit to enable administration to children.

A new staff member had recently been recruited, and we saw that all the required recruitment documentation was present. We saw that the recruitment process had been strengthened. In particular regarding collating evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B and indemnity insurance.

The practice ensured staff training, including continuing professional development, was up-to-date and reviewed at the required intervals.

The practice had implemented effective systems for the appropriate and safe management of medicines in line with current guidance, especially regarding the monitoring of dispensed medicines, to prevent misuse.

The practice now actively gathered feedback from patients, which was evaluated, summarised and discussed at practice meetings.
