Our view of the service
Dates of assessment: From 6 August 2026 to 13 August 2026.
The White House is a residential care home providing personal care and accommodation to people with a learning disability. At the time of our inspection there were 3 people living at the service.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
People received the right support. People and staff knew each other well and staff understood people’s individual ways of communicating. This empowered people to make choices, including what they did, wore, ate and where they went. Staff supported people to access local facilities and to engage in activities in the community.
Staff provided the right care. People received their care safely from trained and supervised staff. People’s needs were assessed and reviewed, and their care was person-centred. People’s risks were assessed and mitigated, and timely referrals were made to healthcare professionals when required.
The registered manager checked the quality of care and support people received and developed action plans to ensure continuous improvements. The views of people, relatives and staff were gathered to shape and improve how the service was provided. Staff were supported to reflect upon and learn from any incidents, accidents or complaints.
People's experience of this service
People’s care was personalised and met their needs. Staff had been in their roles for many years which meant people and staff knew each other well. Where people were unable to communicate verbally, we observed positive interactions between them and staff. People’s unique communication needs were understood by staff who supported their speech with pictures, Makaton, gestures and body language.
