Our view of the service

The Lindsay is registered to provide care, nursing and support for up to 70 people. The service provides residential and nursing care for older adults, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of this inspection, there were 48 people living at the service. This was a planned inspection on the 17 July and 18 July 2025 of the key questions of safe, effective and well-led, we looked at all quality statements within each key question. Since our last inspection the service had made significant improvements. Staffing levels were assessed to ensure people’s needs were met. People had detailed care plans in place which included oral healthcare. Records relating to consent were in place and people were treated with respect. Governance systems had been strengthened with a clear plan for further developments. Staff told us they were supported and had recognised improvements across the whole service. Staff felt appreciated and told us they could raise any concerns and were confident the management team would act on them. Staff were supported and shown appreciation through various incentive schemes. People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment when this is in their best interests and legally authorised under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). In care homes, and some hospitals, this is usually through MCA application procedures called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA, whether appropriate legal authorisations were in place when needed to deprive a person of their liberty, and whether any conditions relating to those authorisations were being met. People had access to healthcare as needed and wellbeing was a focus of the service. Risks were identified, assessed and measures put in place to reduce the risks. People received their medicines as prescribed. Infection prevention and control procedures were robust. The management of the service had been strengthened, people, their relatives and staff told us they appreciated the stability brought to the service.
