At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

Assessing needs

The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. Staff knew the people they supported well and ensured people received care to meet their needs. The information gathered during the initial assessment was used to develop personalised care plans. Care plans included information about people’s health and any preferences they had. Care plans were reviewed regularly when people’s needs changed.

The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment. People and their family members told us they were asked for consent before receiving care. Comments included, “yes they do that” and “they always ask for consent, for everything.” Staff showed an understanding of the importance of asking people for consent and how people demonstrate nonverbal consent.
