This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Kindness, compassion and dignity
The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. We observed sensitive, kind and appropriately familiar interactions in the waiting area, where patients were greeted warmly. Clinicians walked to the waiting area to collect patients for their appointments, which helped to build rapport and demonstrate kindness before clinical discussions began. We saw that staff knew their patients, families and individual circumstances, enabling compassionate and sensitive conversations.
The service had arrangements in place to promote people's privacy. There was a room within the waiting area where staff could take patients who were distressed or required a private conversation.
The service performed in line with the national average in the 2025 National GP Patient Survey. This showed that people felt listened to and treated with kindness. For example, 92% of respondents to the survey said that during their last appointment they had confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to, compared to a national average of 93%. This was reflected in feedback from people we spoke with during our assessment who described staff as “fantastic”, “truly caring” and “incredible”. One patient explained that after a collapse at the surgery, all the staff, including the GP, had provided care and support, waiting for an ambulance, visiting them in hospital and providing care and support to their spouse.
