Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 16 September 2026.
We found the practice had met regulations. The practice was in the process of moving to new governance arrangements and processes were not yet fully embedded. Issues we identified during the inspection were acted on immediately.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, however we found these were not always consistently applied.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Lincoln and provides NHS dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 5 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 11 staff, of which there were 2 dentists, 5 dental nurses, one of whom was self-employed, 2 dental therapists, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. Nurses also provided cover for reception duties. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 3 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We reviewed patient feedback we received, and feedback routinely obtained by the practice. Patient feedback provided a generally positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice
Patients generally commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. We noted the service was recently renovated and decorated in response to previous patient feedback.
Patients stated that they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.
Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
Patients said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
Not all patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs. A number stated that they had experienced difficulty accessing appointments.
A number of comments highlighted difficulties experienced with communication. The provider had responded to this by making improvements to their broadband and telephone systems and recruiting more staff.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were shown examples of where this was reviewed and appropriate action taken. For example, the service was decorated, additional staff recruited and a new telephone and broadband system installed to improve communication and access to appointments.
