Governance, management and sustainability

Regulations met

At the inspection on 1 September 2026, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

The practice arranged an external Legionella risk assessment shortly after our initial inspection. Practice leadership were taking appropriate action to work through the recommendations and had implemented an action plan and timeline for completion. These were scheduled within a timescale that reflected the level of risk and impact on people using the service. The practice owner had also undertaken further training for Legionella management in premises.

The practice also completed a new fire risk assessment, servicing of the fire equipment was now in place, and documentation for regular checks of the equipment were provided on the day of the follow up inspection. They had developed a robust checking system that was consistently documented.

The infection prevention control policy and decontamination processes had been updated and were in line with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 01-05. There was also clear and consistent documentation present to support and evidence these were embedded and being followed.

All policies and processes had been updated and were available to all staff. The practice had developed a system to ensure that these were updated regularly. They had also implemented documents and processes for reporting and recording accidents, incidents and significant events and had created a log to identify and track themes and trends.

Systems and processes relating to recruitment and the oversight of training had been implemented and embedded. However, we noted safeguarding training had expired for 4 members of staff. We discussed this with the provider, and all expired training was completed during the inspection day. The provider made further updates to their process on the day of inspection, which included dates when training expired to avoid this happening in the future.

The medical emergency kit was available in line with recognised guidance. However, the kit was not being checked as frequent as outlined in national guidance. Once highlighted to the practice, we were assured that this would be amended and the checks would be completed weekly as per recognised guidance.
