Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site unannounced assessment on 1st April 2025

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place.

The practice had some systems to manage risks, which require improvements such as fire safety and infection control

Safeguarding processes were in place; however, not all staff knew their responsibilities for safeguarding and training for safeguarding had lapsed.

Recruitment procedures did not reflect current legislation.

Governance in the practice was poor and had not identified areas that require improvements

The environment had not been maintained sufficiently in some areas.

The practice is in Canterbury, Kent and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.

The practice had 10 treatment rooms.During the assessment we spoke with 5 dentists, 7 dental nurses, a receptionist and the personal assistant to the practice owner, who is also a registered dental nurse.

The provider was not complying with regulation 17 Good governance.
