Safe environments
At the inspection on 30 September 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:
The practice had ensured that all medical emergency equipment was available in accordance with national guidance.
Staff providing treatments to patients under sedation had completed immediate life support training.
Improvements had been implemented to ensure the effective management of fire safety. The fire risk assessment was conducted in accordance with legal requirements. It had now identified the risks associated with evacuating patients under sedation, along with the relevant control measures. The practice had implemented sufficient systems to ensure the fire alarm, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers were regularly checked and maintained. We saw evidence that routine fire evacuation drills were being carried out.
Safe and effective staffing
The practice had made improvements and ensured all staff had completed training on how to interact appropriately with autistic people and people who have a learning disability. Staff who conducted cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans had also received appropriate training. On the day of the inspection staff also demonstrated knowledge in relation to sepsis and safeguarding.
Infection prevention and control
The practices infection control procedures reflected published guidance. The practice had implemented systems to ensure the temperature of water used for immersing instruments for scrubbing was 45 degrees Celsius or under. The detergent used for manual cleaning was measured to the correct dilution according to the manufacture's guidance. On the day of the inspection, we observed that staff maintained a clear dirty-to-clean workflow during the decontamination process. We also noted that the heavy-duty gloves were being changed weekly.
