Equity in access
Staff had carried out a disability access audit and had an action plan to continually improve access for patients.
Staff described the reasonable adjustments they had made to ensure the practice was accessible.
Staff were clear about the importance of providing emotional support to patients and were aware of the level of commitment required from patients undergoing this type of treatment. All staff we spoke to demonstrated their awareness of how vulnerable patients can feel during their journey, and how they needed to support and reassure patients.
The practice displayed its opening hours and provided information on their website.
The frequency of appointments was agreed between the dentist and the patient, based on their needs and during the recovery process.
The practice provided telephone numbers for patients needing help or support following treatment. The practice explained to us the level of access a patient had to their oral surgeon throughout their treatment. Patient feedback we reviewed demonstrated that this was something patients valued and were particularly grateful for.
