During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with the manager, administration officer and three care staff.

We spoke with four relatives, one representative and one person who received a service from Precious Support Services to obtain their views.

People and their representatives told us they were involved in their care and treatment decisions. They said they were happy with the care provided.

We saw care plans for three people who used Precious Support Services. The care plans contained important information about people the service looked after.

Comments from people who received a service and their relatives included 'I am happy with my care' and 'They speak to me nicely.'

People told us they felt their relative was safe and would make a complaint if it was

necessary.

The service had good systems in place for recruiting care staff and we saw recruitment checks had been undertaken.

We found the service had good systems in place monitor the quality of service provided.

During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us their care and support needs had been discussed but they had not signed their care plan which gave their consent to care.

People told us that care staff respected their privacy during personal care routines. We found that people received calls at the time they were expected. People said that staff took their time and did not rush when delivering their care. One person told us 'Yes they are nice and speak to me how I want to be spoken to.' People who used the service told us that if care staff were going to be late they were always told in advance.

We saw care plans were in place for people who used the service. However, the detail of information held in these care plans varied. The manager and the care staff had a good understanding of people's care and welfare needs but these details were not always recorded in the care plans.

People told us they usually had the same staff deliver their care who were knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. They told us the staff were very capable of looking after them or their relative. People we spoke with and their relatives said they were happy with the care staff.

People who used the service told us they had been given information about complaints or that they knew how to make a complaint. People and their relatives we spoke with told us they had never had to make a complaint and were happy with the care they received. We saw a system was in place to monitor complaints.
