Our view of the service

We carried out this assessment between 2 February to 19 February 2026. Alexander Court Care Home is a care home providing accommodation and personal care. The service supports people over the age of 65, living with dementia, a physical disability, or sensory impairments. This is the first inspection since a new provider has taken over the service.

During our inspection we found concerns with audit and quality assurance processes as they did not identify the concerns we found. The environment was not always safe. The entrance door for the service was broken and unlockable. People had access to substances which could be harmful. The care people received was not always safe. Care plans were not reflective of the support people needed for diabetes. When people’s daily fluid intake targets were not being met on consecutive days, no action was being taken. These concerns constituted breaches in regulations relating to good governance and safe care and treatment. We found no harm had come to people.

The service had gone through a recent change of ownership, and during our inspection the care plan documentation and monitoring was transferred from paper care plans to a new electronic care plan system.

We found Alexander Court Care Home had a caring staff team. Staff told us they felt supported by the management team.

People’s needs had been assessed. The provider worked in partnership with other organisations including health, community and faith groups to meet people’s needs.

The provider accepted feedback from this assessment and took immediate steps to affect change where required.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with people about their experience of living at Alexander Court Care Home and relatives. Not everyone at Alexander Court Care Home could tell us about their care experience, so we carried out structured observations. We saw staff treat people kindly and with respect.

Relatives told us that they felt the home was safeand they were positive about the skills and knowledge of the care staff. One relative told us, “I have never seen or heard anyone be left, shouted at or ignored.” People told us they were treated well. One person told us, “The staff always have time for me.”
