Our view of the service
We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 25 March 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Southbrook Dental Practice on 20 November 2024 and a follow up inspection on 3 July 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of Regulation 17 Good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During this follow-up inspection, we found the practice had not met regulations.
Improvements were required to the system for managing the risk associated with the carrying out of the regulated activities. In particular, fire safety, legionella and carrying out risk assessments.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. However, these were still not consistently followed, and there was a lack of oversight of staff training and whether they understood and followed procedures.
Improvements were required to the documentation of dental care in dental care records and the auditing of these.
The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks, including radiation protection.
Improvements had been made to the governance and oversight of the practice. Appropriate up-to-date policies were now in place.
The arrangements to respond to medical emergencies had been improved and were now in line with nationally agreed guidance.
Southbrook Dental Practice is in Bradford and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms, but only 1 was in use.At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 4 staff, of which there was 1 dentist, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 receptionist and 1 locum receptionist/dental nurse. During the inspection we spoke with the dentist, the dental nurses, and the practice’s compliance consultant.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
