Our view of the service
Greenhill is a care home that can accommodate for up to 64 people. Greenhill is registered to provide care and support to older people, younger adults, physical disability and people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 63 people living at the service.
People received safe care and treatment. Safeguarding concerns were managed appropriately in line with guidance, and staff understood people’s needs and risks and how to support them safely. Staff were recruited safely and received training and supervision to ensure they could carry out their roles safely and effectively. We observed staffing levels met people’s needs promptly and staff were deployed well throughout the service. Medicines were administered and managed safely. The environment was well maintained and was clean with effective infection prevention and control processes in place.
Staff were knowledgeable about people's individual routines and likes and dislikes. They were aware of the importance of providing person centred care. People’s independence, rights and choice were supported ensuring control over their care, treatment and wellbeing. People’s care plans and records reflected their individual preferences. Assessments were completed and reviewed to ensure staff could meet people’s needs and risks. People’s nutritional and hydration needs and preferences were met.
There were capable and inclusive leaders and staff told us they received good support from the registered manager and deputy manager. Systems and processes in place were used effectively to assess the quality and safety of care within the service.
