Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 11/02/2026 12/02/2026. The Willow Tree Surgery is a GP practice and delivers service to 3,310 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnicity of the practice population is 44% Asian, 28.3% White, 12.9% Black, 4.5% Mixed and 10.3% Other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the fourth decile (4 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others.
Following a comprehensive assessment in February 2025, the provider was served a warning notice on 31 March 2025 for regulation 12 safe care and treatment.
This assessment in February 2026 was carried out to check compliance with the warning notice. We focused on 6 quality statements relevant to the warning notice:
Learning culture
Involving people to manage risk
Safe environments
Safe and effective staffing
Medicines optimisation
Assessing needs
The summary of the key questions relating to these quality statements are as follows:
The service had an improved learning culture and people could raise concerns. There was evidence that managers investigated incidents thoroughly. The availability of emergency equipment had improved, and health and safety risks had been mitigated. Staff training records were up to date and staff immunisation records were available. Improvements had been made in relation to the management of medicines.
People were involved in assessments of their needs. Care plans were completed and reviewed and health checks carried out. Some shortfalls were identified through our clinical searches however the provider took immediate action to mitigate the risks.
Since the last inspection, the practice had made sufficient improvements and is no longer in breach of regulation 12 safe care and treatment. However, due to previous ratings in other quality statements and key questions which were not reviewed during this assessment, the overall rating for this service remains requires improvement.
