Our view of the service
Date of assessment written as: Date of assessment 7 July 2026 to 23 July 2026. Train2Care Academy is a care at home service, providing support to adults under 65 years, adults over 65 years, people living with dementia and physical disabilities. At the time of the assessment, there were 6 people using the service.
At this assessment, the service has been rated good.
The inspection was carried out by 1 inspector and 1 expert by experience. An Expert by Experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of service.The service had enough staff employed to keep people safe. Pre-employment checks were carried out to ensure recruitment was safe. Staff had received inductions and relevant training to support people safely.
Staff understood how to treat people with kindness and respect. They supported people to make choices about how their care was delivered. A staff member said, “I follow safeguarding policies and procedures, treat everyone with dignity and respect, [and] report concerns immediately. I [have] completed [my] safeguarding training, and ensure concerns are escalated appropriately to protect [people].
Leaders supported staff well, they were visible to both people and staff and had an open-door approach. Staff told us team meetings were held regularly. At meetings staff received updates on the service, compliance issues and quality improvement.
Managers worked with external partners to ensure people received relevant care and support. The registered manager had good overside of the service. Audits and reviews ensured a good standard of care was maintained.
The service had a range of policies and procedures in place for staff to follow to work towards keeping people safe, and to keep the service running smoothly.Staff told us they were happy working at the service and felt they were well supported by the management team.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives gave positive feedback about the care and support they received from Train2Care Academy. They told us they had no issues with missed calls, and staff would stay for the full duration of their expected visit. While comments were made about minor communication issues due to English not being the first language of some staff. One relative said, “[We are] very happy with all the care being delivered.”
People had care plans and risk assessments in place which detailed people’s care and support needs, and people had access to these in their homes.
