Our view of the service

About the service

Your Life (Northwich) is a domiciliary care service providing the regulated activity of personal care to people living independently within a retirement living development. The service supports older adults with a range of needs, including physical health conditions, mobility difficulties, sensory impairments and long-term health conditions, enabling people to remain living in their own homes with support tailored to their individual needs, preferences and goals. At the time of this assessment, the service was providing personal care and support to 3 people.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates the personal care and support that people may receive. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where people receive personal care, we also consider any wider social care provided.

Who the service is for

This service is registered to support older adults aged 65 and over, and adults aged 18 to 65 with physical disabilities and sensory impairments. The service provides personal care and support to people living independently within a retirement living development.

Our view of the service

Our assessment was carried out remotely between 21 September 2026 and 2 October 2026 as part of a Return to Good assessment.

Overall, the evidence reviewed demonstrated people were receiving safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led support which reflected their individual needs, preferences and circumstances. Care plans, risk assessments and support records were personalised and provided staff with clear guidance on how to support people safely whilst promoting independence, choice and control. Records showed people's needs were regularly reviewed and care was adapted when changes in health, wellbeing or circumstances were identified.

The provider adopted a person-centred approach to care delivery and promoted people's independence wherever possible. Care records demonstrated a focus on what people could do for themselves and how staff could provide support in a way that maintained dignity, choice and control. There was evidence people and, where appropriate, their relatives were involved in decisions about their care and support and consent was obtained and reviewed in line with people's wishes.

People benefited from opportunities to maintain social connections, participate in meaningful activities and remain involved within their local community. Activity programmes showed a varied range of events and social opportunities, including exercise sessions, games evenings, knitting groups, film nights, social gatherings, fundraising activities and homeowners' meetings. These opportunities supported people's wellbeing, interests and community involvement and helped reduce the risk of social isolation.

The provider had systems and processes in place to monitor the quality and safety of care. Audits, care reviews, staff file audits and operational oversight processes were completed regularly to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Where actions had been identified, records demonstrated they were monitored and completed. Governance arrangements provided oversight of care delivery, staffing, training, incidents and documentation and supported continuous improvement across the service.

There was evidence of a positive culture where learning, accountability and improvement were promoted. Staff received training, competency assessments, supervision and ongoing development opportunities. Team meetings covered topics including communication, record keeping, safeguarding, incident reporting, fire safety, end of life care and learning from events. Staff achievements were recognised and opportunities were provided for reflection and learning to support improvements in practice.

Staff spoke positively about the registered manager, describing them as approachable, supportive and responsive. Feedback highlighted the registered manager's commitment to improving the service and supporting both people and staff. Evidence demonstrated they maintained effective oversight of care delivery through audits, reviews, quality assurance processes and regular engagement with staff. The registered manager promoted a culture of learning and continuous improvement, with lessons from audits, incidents, reviews and feedback used to drive service improvements and support positive outcomes for people. Staff consistently described the registered manager as visible, supportive and committed to maintaining high standards of care and support.

Overall, the evidence reviewed provided assurance people were receiving good quality care and support.
