At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People were able to spend time with others that were important to them, and staff supported people to facilitate and maintain relationships.

We observed people’s needs and requests being met, people had choice to change their plans and activities when they chose to. Staff told us, “We make sure there is a driver. [Name] can go out as many times as [Name] wants and where [Name] wants, we drive to the seaside or wherever [Name] wants to go” and “We have different activities for individuals each day, they can choose, we always leave them to make that choice.”We observed a person making decisions about how to spend their afternoon, the person told us, “I’d like to go out again today, I’m going to go with [staff] to collect the fish and chips.” Staff supported this change with encouragement and a positive approach to ensuring the person’s needs and choices were met.One relative told us, “They promote [Names] independence and show pictures so [Name] can choose."
