Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 15 to 22 April 2026.

Link Direct Care Limited (TRURO) provides a care at home service to adults living in their own homes in the Truro and Newquay areas of Cornwall. Most people received regular short visits to help them to continue living at home as they neared the end of their lives.

This was the first assessment of this newly registered service. We have rated the service good.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture.

People were supported by 1 or 2 members of staff with visit durations from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. At the time of our assessment the service was supporting 7 people.

People were protected from abuse and discrimination by staff who had a good understanding of local safeguarding arrangements. Risks in relation to people’s care needs had been identified and effectively mitigated.

Prior to the assessment the registered manager had not fully understood the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act. Following feedback, additional systems were introduced to ensure people’s rights and freedoms were protected.

The service was able to safely support people with the management of their medicines.

Staff had access to Personal Protective Equipment and knew how to manage infection control risks.

Rotas included appropriate travel time between care visits and records showed staff normally arrived on time. Necessary checks had been completed to ensure staff were suitable for employment in the care sector.

The service’s digital care plans were sufficiently detailed and gave staff enough guidance to enable them to meet people’s needs.

Staff were well supported and had received appropriate training to ensure they had the skills necessary to meet people’s needs.

The registered manager regularly worked alongside care staff providing support. Relatives knew how to report concerns and were confident any issues raised would be addressed. Quality assurance systems were effective, and daily checks were completed to ensure all planned visits were provided.

People's experience of this service

This service specialises in providing end of life care to people living in their own homes. Not everyone the service supported was able to speak with us. As a result, we visited 2 people in their own homes and spoke with 2 people’s relatives via telephone.

Staff provided support with compassion and responded positively to people’s needs and requests.

People’s relatives were consistently complementary of the care and support Link Direct provided. Their comments included, “The staff provide support with care and compassion”, “[The staff] are nice people” and “They are so kind and gentle, to see the care they give to my relative, it’s amazing”.

Care records showed visits were not missed and that staff normally arrived on time and stayed for the planned duration of each visit. Relatives confirmed this information was accurate and said, “Never missed a visit”, “The carers are normally on time” and “They come on time, if they are going to be late, they let me know”.
