Our view of the service
We carried out this unannounced on-site inspection on 27 May 2026.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control, hazardous substances, clinical waste, stock control and environmental cleaning. However, these were not always working effectively and required improvement.
Leadership and oversight of the service was not always effective. Processes for continuous improvement were in place but were not always applied effectively.
The practice is in Yarm and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available outside the practice.
The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 9 staff, of which there were 2 dentists (1 of which was the owner), 4 dental nurses (2 of which were trainee dental nurses), 2 dental therapists, 1 dental hygienist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 3 dental nurses and 1 dentist.
The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good governance. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
