Our view of the service

Date of assessment 6 March to 23 March 2026.

Seco Support Swindon is a service providing bespoke, single person occupancy supported living services to people in their own homes. We assessed the service as it had not yet been rated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). At the time of the assessment, there were 5 people receiving a regulated activity.

The service provided support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, Right care, Right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

Seco Support Swindon demonstrated exceptional practice across all areas of right care, right support and right culture. People received highly personalised, therapeutic and empowering care that promoted independence, choice and meaningful outcomes.

People’s needs were assessed thoroughly and there was an exceptionally robust transition process when people began receiving support from the service. People were supported to maximise their health and wellbeing. People’s care was consistently monitored and reviewed to improve outcomes for people. There was a strong emphasis on teamwork within the service, and there were various examples of how effective team working had benefited people. The service worked in line with the Mental Capacity Act.

Staff were exceptionally kind and caring. People’s care plans contained high-level information about things which were important to them, so staff knew people and their needs well. Staff were exceptionally knowledgeable about people and their needs. Person-centred care was deeply embedded into the culture. This included people being involved in the recruitment process for prospective staff supporting them.

The service supported people to access healthcare services and worked in creative ways to get the best possible outcomes for people. The service was exceptional in relation to meeting people’s communication needs. People’s views were sought and people were involved in their care. There was a strong focus on collaborating with other partners, such as multi-disciplinary teams [MDTs]. There was a very clear vision and strategy, staff worked in line with these values. Staff, partners and people receiving care spoke positively about the governance of the service. There were clear roles and responsibilities. The model of care meant that there was strong oversight from leaders and that care was truly bespoke.

People's experience of this service

We received feedback from 1 person being supported by the service, and 4 relatives.

Relatives told us the service supported their family member to achieve positive outcomes. Relatives told us the service was particularly good at keeping them up to date and informed, working well with other professionals and supporting their family member to access healthcare appointments.

Comments included, “Seco has been the best service [person] has had so far thanks to a very good social worker who worked hard for change to this company”, “I like all the staff and know who to talk to if I was worried”, “The Service Manager is exceptionally approachable and helpful”, “At the present with the aid of a team leadership [person’s] life has improved dramatically from a year ago” and “There has been much positive progress for [person].”

Relatives also spoke positively about the thorough transition process when their family member began receiving support. One relative commented, “There was a long and thorough transition into this setting, so my family member had already built relationships with the staff. They had the chance to get to know him and how the staff in his previous setting managed his care. There were lots of MDT meetings during the assessment and the Seco staff spent a lot of time in this setting observing and gradually getting more involved.”

People and relatives described staff as friendly, polite, caring and supportive.

However, one relative commented they would like to see their family member receive more community engagement. One relative told us not all the staff were confident cooks so prepare microwavable meals with limited vegetables and fruit and healthy options. However, they mentioned, “This is getting better and [person] is now actively involved in preparing meal choices and shopping list.”
