Our view of the service

The service is a domiciliary care agency providing support to adults of all ages including those living with dementia. Not everyone being supported received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. There were 6 people who were being supported with personal care. This included people who had live in carers providing 24-hour cover.

This assessment was undertaken as the service had changed location address and had not been inspected since November 2018. This inspection was undertaken between 14 May and 29 May 2026. At the last inspection well-led was rated requires improvement. During this assessment improvements were noted. The manager had been registered with the CQC and had established clear leadership for staff. Systems for quality review had improved with spot checks and feedback from staff and people being recorded.

Staff were open and direct when reporting any concern or incident these were recorded and responded to appropriately. Any safeguarding issue was identified to the registered manager who ensured these were raised with the local authority as necessary. Outcomes were used for learning and to improve practice where possible.

There were sufficient staff employed who had the appropriate skills and competence to support people safely. Agency staff used completed an induction programme and the registered manager confirmed they were now included in the staff mandatory training. Staff followed safe infection control practice and used personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed. Medicines were well managed by staff suitably trained to do so.

A full needs assessment was completed before a package of care was agreed to ensure appropriate care and support could be provided. The registered manager ensured they worked with other agencies to support good outcomes for people. People were supported and encouraged to make decisions about their care.

There was a small group of staff who were matched and allocated to people, this supported a person-centred approach to care. Staff knew people and their relatives well and treated them with kindness and compassion. Care was delivered with dignity and respect, and individual preferences were upheld. Staff told us, “All the clients are lovely, I love spending time with them chatting, they are so interesting.”

The staff felt supported and valued, with access to training and development opportunities. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and were all positive about working for Everycare Hastings.

People and relatives were able to raise concerns and were confident they would be responded to effectively. People received fair and equal care and support was provided in a tailored and flexible way. Staff knew and understood people’s preferences, likes, dislikes and preferred routines.

Staff and people benefited from an open and positive culture that had been established by the provider and the registered manager. Both were approachable and committed to promoting a quality service for people and their relatives. The registered manager had a clear oversight of the care and support provided to people. Staff were supported to provide a high standard of care with regular training and ongoing supervision that reviewed their level of performance. People were supported by a team of staff who knew them well and worked well together to meet their individual needs.
