Our view of the service
We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 4 November 2025. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of The Lytham Dental Clinic on 19 March 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of Regulation 17 Good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulations.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Complete and up-to-date records were held for all staff.
The practice had systems to identify and manage risks. Fire safety, electrical and radiation protection risks had been addressed.
The storage of clinical waste was in line with legislation and guidance.
The current system of policies and governance supported the practice to ensure effective governance and leadership.
Medical emergency checking procedures should be reviewed to ensure these are in line with current guidance.
Improvements should be made to the infection prevention and control processes.
The practice is in Lytham and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.
The practice had 5 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 24.Two of these attended on an occasional basis to place dental implants and do oral surgery. During the inspection we spoke with the owner who was also the principal dentist, 3 dentists, the orthodontic therapist, 3 dental nurses, the decontamination operative, 1 dental therapist, 2 receptionists and the social media assistant.
