Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients. Patient online reviews in the last 3 months praised the reception team for being welcoming, friendly, efficient, and accommodating when arranging appointments. Patients valued the practice's ability to provide timely access to care when required.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. Patient feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with patients consistently praising the caring, professional, and friendly approach of the dental team. Many patients highlighted the compassion and non-judgemental support provided by dentists and dental nurses, particularly when managing complex or longstanding dental issues.

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Patients frequently commented on the high quality of clinical care received, including clear explanations of treatment options, the use of diagnostic information such as X-rays to support decision-making, and the provision of painless treatment. Several patients specifically recognised individual clinicians for their professionalism, kindness, and skill.

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey. The practice routinely invited patients to provide feedback through the Friends and Family Test survey following their appointments. The most recent survey results reviewed by the practice indicated a high level of patient satisfaction, with 86.7% of respondents stating they were extremely likely to recommend the practice and a further 11.1% reporting they were likely to recommend the service. These results reflected the positive experiences reported by patients.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported. Staff described receiving support during challenging situations, including matters affecting their wellbeing.

Staff felt able to seek advice and support from colleagues across the practice and highlighted a strong culture of teamwork and mutual respect.

Overall, staff feedback reflected a positive workplace culture where staff felt supported in their roles, encouraged to develop professionally, and valued as members of the team.
