Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 9 February until 16 February 2026.

Cumberland Lodge is a care home registered to accommodate up to 15 people who may have mental health issues who require nursing or personal care. The service does not provide nursing care. There were 14 people living at the service at the time of assessment. The accommodation for people was over 2 floors and an additional annex with access to a large garden and easy access to the local community.

This is the first inspection since a new provider has taken over the service

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way which was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. There were enough staff who had received appropriate training to meet people’s needs. People were cared for by staff who had been recruited and employed after appropriate checks had been completed. Staff worked well with health care professionals to support people’s mental and physical well-being. People were supported to take their medicines by staff who had the correct skills to support them. Staff supported people to engage in their local community with activities they enjoyed.

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.

The registered manager had systems in place to provide good oversight and governance at the service.
