Our view of the service
The date of assessment was 8 April 2026, and this was the first inspection since registering to provide a regulated activity. The service was a clinic in Chatham, Kent with a satellite clinic in Rainham, Kent. CES Medical Chatham provided ophthalmology assessments and laser site improvement operations. In the 12 months before the assessment the provider did 81 Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (YAG) laser capsulotomies and 5 selective laser trabeculoplasties. Between April 2025 and March 2026, the provider saw 119 patients aged 0 to 17 years. Of these, 116 patients attended the Chatham site and 3 attended the Rainham site.
The assessment found the service to deliver high‑quality care supported by strong leadership and robust governance arrangements, with effective oversight of clinical and operational activity. Staff were skilled, supported and engaged, and leaders demonstrated clear oversight, strong risk management and a sustained commitment to continuous improvement.
