Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.

We spoke with 4 patients. They all told us how happy they were to be a patient at the practice. “This is not just a dental practice; they are really concerned for your overall health”. “[the dentist] is cool, always happy to see him”.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. “[The dentist] and all his staff have always showed so much care and professionalism to me, [the dentist] was so kind to me and very understanding, his nurses held my hand and looked after me. Everyone from the reception staff right up to [the dentist] are amazing and I can’t thank them or praise them highly enough for everything they’ve done for me, I wouldn’t go anywhere else”.

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate.

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey. There were 15 respondents. All respondents reported that the dentist was patient and courteous, any questions were clearly explained, the practice was clean and tidy and that reception staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported.
