Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 26 and 27 August 2025. Templeton Place care home is registered to provide accommodation with nursing care for up to 80 people. At the time of the assessment 24 people were using the service and the service was providing residential care only. The inspection took place in part due to concerns raised regarding staffing levels. This was a comprehensive inspection, and all quality statements were reviewed.

We received mixed feedback from people, their relatives and staff in relation to staffing levels. Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were managed. Accidents and incidents were recorded and reviewed to minimise the risk of them happening again. Safeguarding concerns were reported in line with requirements and staff knew their responsibilities in keeping people safe. Safe systems were in place to manage maintenance and infection prevention and control. Staff received training and were supported in their roles with regular staff meetings and supervisions. Staff were encouraged to develop professionally.

Audit systems were in place to review the care people received and monitor the systems within the service. Where concerns were identified, action was taken to improve. There was a strong management presence within the service, with additional support provided from the regional and quality teams. Staff told us they felt supported, and the management team were approachable and easy to talk to.

People's experience of this service

Everyone we spoke with gave positive feedback about the service and the staff. People told us they felt safe and well cared for.

People’s health was monitored, and external professional advice was sought when needed. One person’s relative said “[Relative’s] condition has changed dramatically, and [they] have really improved. [Name] is the best [they’ve] been since they moved here.” People told us they enjoyed the food and said it was “really good”, “excellent” and “one of the really strong points.”

People were treated with kindness and compassion and staff protected their privacy and dignity. One person said, “Everybody is very kind. I can’t fault them. It’s very rare you’re on your own. There’s always someone to talk to.”

People were treated as individuals, had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. People were supported and encouraged to maintain their independence and engage in meaningful activities of their choice. One person said, “The first time I looked at this place, I said ‘This is it’. I’ve talked to more people here than I have for a long time.” People’s relatives told us they were involved in care plan reviews if their relative needed support.

Overall, people and their relatives told us they knew who the management team were and felt confident to raise any concerns. One person’s relative said, “I have full confidence in the management and how the home is run. The staff are pleasant, and you can talk to staff about anything. I would recommend the home; the management team care and the chef goes out of their way to cater for my loved one.”
