Our view of the service

This assessment took place between 19 November and 27 November 2025. Consensus Community Support – Croydon, provides care and support to people living in a supported living setting, so that they can live as independently as possible. People’s care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements. CQC does not regulate premises used for supported living. This assessment only looked at people’s personal care and support. At the time of our assessment, there were 2 people using the service.

We assessed the service against ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People were protected and kept safe. Risks were managed well, and staff received the training and support they needed to meet people’s needs and continually develop in their roles. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Recruitment processes were safe, and only suitable staff were employed to work at the service. Infection risks were managed well.

People were involved in assessments of their needs and received personalised care and support tailored to them. Their care was reviewed regularly with them to ensure it continued to meet their needs. Staff supported people to stay healthy and well. People received their medicines when they needed them. Staff helped people understand their care so they could give informed consent.

People were supported to have choice, control, and to maintain their independence. Information was provided in ways that reflected people’s needs and preferences. People were treated equally and fairly and supported to access care and services when they needed this. Staff understood people’s rights and how to uphold them.

The service was led by managers who understood the needs of people using the service. They encouraged people and staff to raise concerns and took action when issues were identified. Staff were supported with their wellbeing. Governance systems helped identify shortfalls and drive improvement at the service. Managers fostered a culture of learning, inclusion, and partnership working at the service, focused on helping people achieve positive outcomes.

Staff supported people to live safely, independently and do the things that mattered to them. People had choice and control over their care and support. They were supported to build and maintain confidence in doing as much for themselves as they could. Staff knew people well and tailored care and support to meet their individual needs. They were kind, caring and respected people’s privacy and dignity.

Staff worked well with each other and others involved in people’s care and support. They shared information when needed to make sure there was a consistent and seamless approach to the care and support people received.

People received fair and equal treatment from staff who understood their right to receive care and support that met their individual needs. People were encouraged to give feedback about the service. When people wanted changes made, staff listened and took appropriate action in response. People did not have any concerns about the quality of care and support provided to them. They knew who to raise concerns or complaints with if they did.
