Our view of the service

We carried out this announced inspection on 21 July 2025.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control however these were not always followed or effective.
The service lacked a culture of continuous improvement and there were ineffective systems in place for governance and oversight.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles. However improvements were required to ensure training in areas such as fire and medical emergencies was undertaken.
Improvements were required to ensure that recruitment checks were carried out for all staff employed.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Notting Hill and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice specialises in dental implants.
Car parking spaces were available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 1 treatment room. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 2 staff, of which there were 1 dentist, who owned the practice, and receptionist, who was also the dentist’s personal assistant. We spoke to the dentist and receptionist during the inspection.
The provider was not complying with all regulations. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
 

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 6 patients. On the day of our inspection, we saw patient feedback from a further 2 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, ‘I have been going to this dentist for years. He is an amazing guy and dentist. I love his approach he is always looking at the big picture and long term and is exceptional at the work. My wife also goes and thinks he's the best dentist she's ever had’. And‘The service I received at Keep Smiling by my dentist (name of dentist) excellent. The experience was comfortable and achieved the results I had hoped for. I would highly recommend him as your dentist, particularly if you are a little nervous about the dentist. Couldn't have asked for a better experience or result’.Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care. Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
