Clients were involved in decisions about their care. The service provided information clients could understand. Clients knew how to give feedback and were actively encouraged to do so. The service was easy to access and worked to eliminate discrimination. Clients received fair and equal care and treatment. Clients were involved in planning their care and understood options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.

We looked for evidence that the service met people’s needs, and that staff treated people equally and without discrimination.

The service made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.

Our review of clinical records showed patients were supported to understand their condition and were involved in planning for their care needs. They were also involved in decisions about their care. Fees for treatments were displayed and agreed with clients.

The service supplied appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information in formats that were tailored to individual needs.

Information was available in a range of languages. Staff at the service spoke multiple languages.

Listening to and involving people

The service made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support.

We saw that no complaints had been made in the previous 12 months. Staff were aware of how these complaints would be managed in line with the practice’s policy. Staff were able to identify changes made as a result of patient feedback, for example, the requirement for a Saturday clinic.

Equity in access

The service made sure that people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.

The treatment room was available on the ground floor. Clients could book an appointment by telephone or could walk in during opening hours. There was ample room for wheelchairs and pushchairs in the waiting area, due to the level floor and spacious layout.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.

Feedback provided by people using the service, to the provider, was positive. Staff treated people equally and without discrimination. Staff used appropriate systems to capture and review feedback from people using the service, including those who did not speak English or have access to the internet.
