Our view of the service

The service is a domiciliary care agency providing support to adults. Not everyone being supported received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. There were 6 people who were being supported with personal care.

This assessment was the first since the service was registered in June 2024 and was undertaken between 13 March and 26 March 2026.

During this assessment we identified 3 breaches of the legal regulations. The breaches to legal regulation related to good governance and the safe recruitment and deployment of suitable skilled, competent staff.

The management roles and responsibilities had not been defined to support the effective operation of the service. There were no auditing or governance processes in place to monitor and improve the quality of the service, ensure compliance with the regulations, or to reduce risk to people. Ways of capturing feedback from people and staff had not been fully established to enable evaluation and improvement of the service. Some records were incomplete, this included care documentation and environmental risk assessments. The management team had recognised the need for improvement and provided an improvement plan to address the identified concerns identified during the assessment process.

Staff had not received appropriate training to ensure they had the skills required to meet people's needs. There was no evidence of a suitable training programme including an induction and assessment of competencies, to ensure staff had the relevant skills and experience to perform their designated roles. The recruitment process followed did not ensure a robust procedure was followed.

There was a small group of staff supporting people using the service. The staffing arrangements allowed for staff to attend to people's needs in an individual way. Feedback received confirmed staff were attentive and had time for people and their relatives. Staff responded to safeguarding issues appropriately. Staff followed good infection control practice. Medicines were not currently administered by staff; however, prescribed creams were and systems to do this safely were established during the assessment process.

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. Staff felt well supported and enjoyed their work. One said, “I like looking after X he makes me laugh.”

Staff worked closely with each other and the management team; there was a good team spirit. The management team worked with other professionals promoting good outcomes for people. People and relatives knew how to raise concerns and were confident they were acted on. People received fair and equal care and support was provided in a tailored and flexible way.
