Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 15 October 2025.
This is the first inspection since registration 12 June 2024.
KYN Hurlingham is a care home that provides personal care and nursing care for up to 32 older people who may be living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 19 people using the service, who were all receiving personal care.
During the assessment we spoke with people using the service, their relatives, the registered manager, management team, and staff to get their feedback about the service, and regarding how people’s personal and social care needs were being met.
We found that people received a high standard of care, and support that was very safe, and provided by extremely professional, competent, and well-trained staff. The provider recruited staff appropriately, and people were continually enabled, and supported to take positive risks in a proactive, encouraging, manner that enhanced their quality of life. Staff were very attentive to people not becoming socially isolated
with a community philosophy being fostered and promoted. This was re-enforced by numerous activities being made available, tailored to the needs of people as individuals as well as in a group setting. The care home was run along the lines of people and their wishes first rather than being task driven. Staff provided people with excellent support as a team, irrespective of their specific roles in a joined up, integrated way. Where required this included involving external healthcare professionals. The provider enhanced people’s independence by giving them an array of choices and alternatives promoting a holistic approach to care. This included people having control over when they received care and support and how it was delivered with staff being fully aware of people’s preferences. The service recorded people’s consent to care, and treatment, and they were encouraged, and supported to maintain healthy diets whilst having a variety of meal choices including the timing of their meals with catering staff available throughout the day. The provider systems continually monitored the support provided by staff to encourage, and drive improved experiences, and outcomes for people. The service was very well led, with good governance, excellent communication, and very effective monitoring systems.
