Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patients told us, “Excellent service today from the team at Walmley Dental. Very happy that my family and I are patients here,” and “A friendly and welcoming dental practice, excellent care, nice environment and professional staff.”

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion.

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. One patient told us, “Really helpful and friendly staff on reception. Seen by practitioners on time. Clear communication about processes and any treatments. Advice on good practice for continued oral hygiene routines.”

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey. We saw that 5 responses had been received. Patients were wholly positive about the care and treatment provided. Patients commented “Best filling ever and no discomfort,” and “Really relaxing and put me at ease. Explained everything thoroughly so I could make the right decision for me, all the staff are very friendly and easy to talk to.”

Patients were also able to complete the Friends and Family Test (FFT - an anonymous feedback tool allowing patients to rate their satisfaction with NHS services). There was a quick response (QR) code on reception for patients to leave anonymous feedback, there was also a separate QR code for patients who had seen the foundation dentist to leave feedback. Text messages were sent to patients after treatment with a link for them to provide feedback.

The practice had received 4.8 stars out of 5 stars from 184 online reviews and they responded to patients who had left reviews.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported. We were told, “[practice manager] She’s always considerate and selfless and makes work feel smoother and easier for me. I can always go to her if I ever have any issues and I can trust that she’ll deal with it in the best way,” and “I do feel respected and supported because everyone works well as a team and we all help each other and if there is a concern raised [management] support by asking if additional help is needed.”
