Governance, management and sustainability
At our inspection of 3 February 2026 we found systems and processes in place did not give the provider the level of governance and oversight required to ensure effective risk control, management and mitigation of risk, and did not support a culture of continuous improvement. Systems and processes in place were not embedded. At our follow up inspection of 22 May 2026 we found the provider had made improvements.
Systems in place to manage checks on water temperatures for the control of Legionella were in place and records were held of these checks. Staff doing this work had received updated training on Legionella management in dental practice.
Oversight of processes in the decontamination room was now in place. A series of checks were in place and were shared with the practice manager and records of these uploaded to the practice compliance system.
Systems to manage medicines in the practice and the security of medicines had improved. Dispensing was now being done by just one clinician, and all clinicians could prescribe but send patients to the local pharmacy for fulfilment of prescriptions. When we asked to see records of medicines held, these were clearer and more concise and allowed the practice to see quickly the stock levels of each medicine held.
The practice could show us evidence of antibiotic prescribing audits. We discussed how these should be further improved.
Systems and processes to address identified risks were in place. Areas of concern from our previous inspection had been addressed.
Governance around required registrations, for example, with MHRA were now in place.
Systems to identify gaps in record keeping, for example, in staff records, were in place. Processes timetabled throughout the year alerted the practice if any documents from staff records required updating or renewing.
Our findings from this inspection demonstrated that the provider is now compliant with Regulation 17 – Good Governance - of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
