Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 4 to 12 August 2026. This assessment was prompted by a review of the information we held about the service. This care at home service provides support to younger and older people living in their own homes. Not everyone who used the service was receiving the regulated activity of personal care, which is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of our inspection, they were providing personal care to 3 people. This was our first inspection of the service.

The service was a small domiciliary care agency supporting people in the Hampshire area. The registered manager was actively involved in the day-to-day running of the service, balancing management responsibilities with direct care delivery. This helped them maintain a good understanding of people's needs and build positive relationships with people and staff. People and relatives spoke positively about the support they received.

The provider was responsive to people's needs and worked to promote consistency in staffing and care visit times. They reviewed and adjusted care arrangements when required and maintained effective communication with people and their relatives. This helped ensure there was a shared understanding of how care should be delivered and the outcomes people wanted to achieve.

Staff were motivated and committed to providing person-centred care. They described how they supported people to maintain their independence, improve their health and wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes. Staff received appropriate training and told us they felt well supported in their roles.

Some care plans did not fully reflect the support staff provided. The registered manager acknowledged improvements were needed to ensure all care related risks and health monitoring requirements were detailed. However, we found people's individual routines and preferences around their personal care were consistently documented in care plans.

The provider was developing systems for incident management, safeguarding oversight and staff engagement. While some improvements were still being embedded, the registered manager had addressed key risks and was receptive to feedback from stakeholders, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing improvement in safety and quality.

People's experience of this service

We spoke to 4 people and relatives via telephone calls to gain feedback about their experiences of receiving care from the provider.

People and their relatives spoke very positively about the care and support they received. They told us staff were kind, respectful and reliable, and that they had developed positive relationships with them. People said they felt safe and comfortable receiving care. Comments included, “I cannot fault the care in the slightest” and “I couldn't ask for anyone better to look after my relative.”

People told us care was delivered at suitable and consistent times and reflected their wishes and preferences. They said staff respected their choices, including their preferences about which staff supported them with personal care. One person told us, “They support my relative just how she likes it.”

Relatives gave positive feedback about the quality of care provided and described staff as caring, patient and considerate. They told us staff provided support in a way that maintained people's dignity, comfort and independence. Comments included, “[Staff member] is always really patient and careful when supporting my relative”, “Care is always carried out to a high standard” and “I'm pleased they are able to look after my relative's hair.”

People and relatives praised the registered manager's communication, responsiveness and involvement in people's care. People felt listened to and said concerns were acted on when raised. Comments included, “If I have any issues, I go to the registered manager” and “The care package was set up really quickly and communication since has been very good.”

Some people told us they would like minor adjustments to aspects of their care, such as the timing of visits or how support with meals was provided. However, they remained positive about the overall quality of care and told us they would recommend the service to others. One person described the service as “one of the better ones” they had experienced.
