Our view of the service
Clifton Gardens Resource Centre is a ‘care home’ without nursing for up to 43 older people. At the time of our assessment 37 people were living at the service.
The assessment included 2 unannounced site visits to the service on the 15 and 24 July 2025.
The last rating for the service was requires improvement (published 12 May 2024). At this time, we identified breaches of 5 legal regulations relating to person-centred care, safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, good governance and staffing. We issued a warning notice telling the registered provider to make the required improvements.
At this assessment, we found improvements had been made in all areas and the provider is no longer breaching any legal regulations. The new rating for this service is good.
Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were assessed and planned for. People lived in a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment. There were procedures for investigating and learning from things that went wrong, including accidents, incidents and safeguarding alerts. Staff supported people to take their medicines safely.
The provider employed enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff felt well supported and had the training and information they needed to care for people.
The provider assessed and planned for people’s needs and choices. People received person-centred care and were able to contribute to reviews of their care. Staff worked with other professionals to make sure people’s healthcare needs were met.
Staff were kind and respectful. People had good relationships with them. People took part in a range of activities which reflected their interests. People’s religious and cultural needs were met. The provider had systems to listen to and involve people in decisions about their care and the service.
There were effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service.
People's experience of this service
People living at Clifton Gardens Resource Centre and their relatives told us they received a good service. They liked the staff who they described as kind. People enjoyed taking part in different activities. A relative commented, “Staff are really exceptional. They have made such a difference to [my relative’s] life. They are friendly and I see them taking care of all of the residents. My relative is happy and that’s all that matters. By doing what they do, they also take care of me.”
We saw staff treating people respectfully and offering them choices. External professionals told us people were well cared for. A professional commented, “Staff are caring, proactive and do not hesitate in asking questions when they need support or advice. I know that the residents are well cared for and staff are dedicated to meeting their needs.”
