Our view of the service
On 17 October 2025, we carried out an inspection at CHEC – Kings Norton inspecting the ophthalmology and endoscopy service. This report relates to the clinical rooms and waiting room at the hospital. We went to all areas which undertook ophthalmology surgery and endoscopy services at the hospital. We reviewed 5 sets of patient records. We spoke with 6 staff which included: technicians, senior leaders, healthcare assistants and administration staff. We found that the service was safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and was led well.
We assessed 34 quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and we have combined scores to give the rating of Good.
People's experience of this service
Patients and their family or carers were mostly positive about the staff treating them with warmth and kindness and providing effective care and treatment. Patients felt staff were on hand if they needed them for help or support. People said they felt involved in the planning of their care. They told us that the staff would listen to their individual needs and do their best to meet these. When people had complaints, these were addressed as soon as possible by staff at the clinic and in the case of a formal complaint investigated and a response given to the person making the complaint.
