Our view of the service
Seymour Clinic provided a wide range of day-case surgical procedures, including face lifts, abdominoplasty’s, hair transplant’s and labiaplasty’s. The service carried out all procedures at their clinic in Marylebone and was opened approximately 8 times a month.
This was the first assessment of surgery at Seymour Clinic. During this assessment we visited all areas within the clinic and spoke with 9 members of staff, including doctors, nurses, an operating department practitioner (ODP) and senior leaders. We reviewed 7 care records and gained direct feedback from 3 patients and 1 patients family member.
We rated the service as good. There were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. The service controlled infection risks well. People’s care, support and treatment reflected their needs. People were treated with kindness, empathy and compassion. People and communities were always at the centre of how care was planned and delivered.
However, we found a breach of regulations in relation to good governance. Governance relating to monitoring of risk, management of audits, policies and information were not always in place. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to our concerns, which will be requested upon publication of the final report.
People's experience of this service
Patients, their families, and carers were positive about their interactions with staff and the treatment they received. All patients and family members we spoke with reported that staff were friendly, and that they were treated with compassion and kindness. Patients were actively involved in decisions about their care and were aware of the plan for their ongoing treatment.
Patients we spoke with reported that staff were very respectful, considerate and supportive. They also reported no delays during consultations or admission for their procedure.
Patients knew how to make complaints and give compliments about the service and were encouraged to do so. Reviews showed that patients reported that the clinic was “very clean” and staff made them feel “supported” and “comfortable” with “results exceeding expectations”.
