Our view of the service

Medicmart Ambulance Service is an independent ambulance service based in Peterborough.
We assessed Medicmart Ambulance Service from 21-22 January 2026 .
We carried out a comprehensive assessment as this service had not been assessed before at its current location. We had also received some information of concern about the safety and the quality of the service and the regulated activities being provided.

Medicmart Ambulance Service Limited registered with CQC at their current location in April 2024 to deliver the regulated activities of: Transport services, triage of medical advice provided remotely and treatment of disorder or injury. The service also provides medical cover to events for example sporting activities, but CQC does not have the power to regulate this part of the service. The service has a registered manager.
At this assessment we inspected 2 assessment service groups: Emergency and urgent care (EUC) and Patient transport services (PTS) where we inspected all quality statements in all key questions.
We visited the ambulance base as part of the assessment and observed the care being given to people on the ambulances.

The service provides 999 emergency support to an NHS ambulance service trust; this was their biggest contract and provides most of their work. They provide regular patient transport services (PTS) to an NHS hospital trust and PTS to 2 local authorities in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. They also receive direct PTS referrals from the public.
We found the service to be in breach of a registration regulation relating to notification of other incidents to CQC.
