This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

This service scored 71 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Assessing needs

Score: 2

The provider did not always assess and record people's needs effectively to ensure care reflected their current circumstances and preferences.

Some care records did not always contain sufficient information to accurately reflect people's assessed needs. Records did not always demonstrate how identified needs translated into detailed guidance for staff. We identified some records which had been copied from other people’s care records, this meant the provider could not always be assured the records were relevant to the individual.

While people's needs were largely met in practice and staff knew people well, records were not always sufficiently detailed, accurate or complete to ensure consistent delivery of person-centred care.

The service had processes to assess people's needs before they moved into the home. The registered manager described visiting people before admission and supporting prospective residents to visit the service to ensure it was the right place for them. Relatives told us they felt involved in care planning and decision-making, and we saw evidence that care plans were reviewed regularly.

Delivering evidence-based care and treatment

Score: 3

The provider delivered people’s care and treatment with them, including what was important and mattered to them. They did this in line with legislation and current evidence-based good practice and standards.
