Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. Comments included, “I am met with friendly receptionists who are always helpful. My dentist is highly professional and detailed in her treatment with useful advice at every visit. Her assistant is equally professional and friendly. The hygienist has taken me from poor oral health to a very satisfactory state. At all times showing empathy and care. Likewise, her assistant who is always supportive to her and me. I now visit with no anxiety at all. Not only do I get extremely high quality oral care, but a friendly atmosphere.”

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Comments included, “I have been attending this dentist for 25 years. I was terrified of dentists and had not been for several years before extreme pain forced me to see a dentist. [Clinician] was recommended to me and it was the best recommendation I have ever received. He is calm, kind, unflappable and completely professional. He has filled teeth when necessary and advised me on dental care such that I am now 65 years old with all my own teeth. I don’t even worry about going to the dentist anymore and dread the day when he might retire. My overall experience of the practice and its staff is very high. They are professional, well organised and kind. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.”

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey which indicated a high level of satisfaction with the care and treatment received.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported.
