Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 9 June 2026.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had systems to identify and manage most risks, however, improvements were required to ensure infection prevention and control risks were appropriately identified.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, however, this was not always followed.
The team was longstanding, leadership was visible, and staff described the team as being like a family.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance.
They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Thamesview Dental Surgery is 1 of 2 locations owned in partnership by the provider. The practice is in the town of Barking in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The dental surgery is located on the 1st floor within a health centre and shares communal areas with other services. There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 9 staff, of which there was the principal dentist, 3 dentists, 1 qualified and registered dental nurse, 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 dental therapist and 1 receptionist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 3 dentists, the qualified dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse and the receptionist.
